In today's episode, we speak with Professor John MacGrath who is a psychiatrist and professor of clinical medicine at the University of Queensland. Since 2017 he has also held the  Niels Bohr Professor at the National Centre for Register-based Research at Aarhus University in Denmark. Professor McGrath specialises in researching risk factors for schizophrenia and undertakes research from his bases in Australia and Denmark. His experience includes working across international cultures and research settings, working closely with patients within clinical mental health settings and providing mentorship to young researchers. In this episode, he talks about his experiences, the challenges for the academy in regards to EDI and what can be done to make research and research environments more inclusive.
